SCERT, Delhi as an academic authority has been providing academic resource support to the Directorate of Education (DoE) and Education Departments of MCDs, NDMC and Cantonment Board. The focus is on quality improvement in school education with latest content and relevant pedagogical practices for creating effective learning environment in class rooms. SCERT organizes capacity building for all stake holders across all subject spectrums and other newly designed need based interventions.
In the contemporary global society, Information & Communication Technology (ICT) plays a important role. In the classroom situation ICT has enormous potential to make teaching learning process most interesting, interactive, illustrative and participatory. ICT facilitates development of user friendly learning material accessible to all irrespective of age, geographical distance etc. Mobile learning, online and blended learning directly address the 3 Es of education i.e. enable, engage and empower. ICT also enhances outreach for qualitative education to all surmounting logistical difficulties.
The real strength of educational technology lies in its ability to unlock learners learning through enhanced engagement, personalised education and equal access to all.
In its endeavour SCERT, Delhi has taken a step ahead towards the ICT enabled Capacity Building Programme for teachers under its In-Service Teachers Training Programme. Hon'ble Secretary Education, Ms Punya Salila Srivastava had launched online capacity Building program for 50 Mathematics teachers & 7 Mentor teachers of DoE as pilot at SCERT, Delhi on 5th Dec , 2016. The programme has been prepared by faculty of SCERT and Mentor teachers with technical support from Million Spark foundation.
This online capacity building programme enhances the sharing between the teacher and teacher; teacher and teacher educator. This programme is available 24*7 to the teachers and they can do the training at their own place, at their own pace without disturbing their routine work. This online platform also provides the teacher community to connect their peers online for help raise their concerns and get solutions from within the community.
